  • Government payroll employment increased by 73K.
• The headline unemployment rate (U-3) decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 4.1 percent.
  • The broadest measure of unemployment (U-6, which adds underemployment to unemployment), decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 7.7 percent.
• The labor force participation rate (LFPR) decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 62.3 percent.

From May 2025 to June 2025:

• The best performing sectors were Private Education and Health Services (+51K) and State Government (+47K).
• The worst performing sectors were Federal Government (-7K) and Professional and Business Services (-7K).

From June 2024 to June 2025:

• The best performing sectors were Private Education and Health Services (+878K) and Leisure and Hospitality (+260K).
• The worst performing sectors were Manufacturing (-89K) and Federal Government (-54K).

From June 2024 to June 2025:

• For all employees on private nonfarm payrolls:
  • Average nominal weekly earnings increased by 3.41 percent.

Job Openings: The total number of nonfarm job openings increased by 374K to 7.77 million, and the rate increased by 0.2 percentage points to 4.6 percent.

• The best performing sectors were leisure and hospitality (+279K) and financial activities (+58K).
• The worst performing sectors were federal government (-39K) and trade, transportation, and utilities (-38K).

Hires: The total number of nonfarm hires decreased by 112K to 5.50 million, and the rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 3.4 percent.

• The best performing sectors were leisure and hospitality (+121K) and trade, transportation, and utilities (+26K).
• The worst performing sectors were private education and health services (-83K) and manufacturing (-52K).

Separations: The total number of nonfarm separations decreased by 71K to 5.24 million, and the rate remained unchanged at 3.3 percent.

• Quits increased by 78K to 3.29 million, and the rate increased by 0.1 percentage points to 2.1 percent.
• Layoffs and discharges decreased by 188K to 1.60 million, and the rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 1 percent.
• Other separations increased by 40K to 349K, and the rate remained unchanged at 0.2 percent.
